Brett Farve and Phillip Rivers have pulled out of the Pro-bowl game, with shoulder and knee injuries respectively. Farve was named to the Pro-bowl last month with Rivers and Collins as the first and second alternates.
Collins was servicable all season limiting mistakes and managing games in relief of an injured Vince Young, but isn't a Pro-bowl level quarterback in our opinion. Using the same criteria, Chad Pennington would be a much more deserving pick, having turned the worst team in the league last year into a playoff contender.

Carolina's top defensive end Julius Peppers has formally asked the team to allow him to seek opportunities outside the team next year. Being a free agent, what he's actually saying was 'please don't use the franchise tag on me'.
Carolina has already said that their intention is to franchise Peppers if they can not reach an extension with him. Peppers declaration was more or less a warning that the situation will get ugly when that happens.

Tampa Bay has fired head coach John Gruden. This news was surprising, seeing that they waited this long after the season was over to make the move. The delay would have hurt the Bucs in a search for a new head coach, but it seems that they already have plans to promote current defensive coordinator Raheem Morris to the head coaching position.
NFL Network's Adam Schefter seems to suggest that Gruden's firing had more to do with player chemistry than performance.
